I
had the opportunity to handle Leo for the first time, in Canada the
weekend of the Northern Ontario Boxer Club 1997 Specialty. Leo and I
had lots of fun that weekend. He won BOB at both the Northern Ontario
Boxer Club and also the Boxer Club of Canada Regional Specialty from
the Veterans Class! He also took Best Stud dog at both Specialties too.
It was an honour to be able to handle a dog like Leo.
Each following year when
Leo came to Canada,. he and I got to play showdog!!
Leo was a pleasure to show....
always the ultimate show dog. It is thanks to Leo that I have a few
fingers missing on my right hand!! Just kidding!! I have never shown
another dog that was as keen for the bait as Leo!!
Memories of Leo will always
be tucked away in a special place in my mind and heart. Not only was
he fun to show, but he has produced some Boxers that I have been extremely
proud to be involved with.
My own Leo daughter (Can/Am
Ch Syrr Run's Fortune Tella) makes every day an interesting and
joyful experience. Tella is now 7 1/2 years of old. She continues to
be a 'showdog' in the veteran class 'Just like Dad'!!
I have had the pleasure of
showing and finishing many of Leo's kids here in Canada, and must say
that most of them have the same wonderful outgoing showdog attitude
as their Dad. There is no doubt in my mind that Leo will soon make Legion
of Merit status.
Leo will be truly missed
by all that knew him. Rest well Mr. Showman!!
